Alex Smith – Director of Program and Service Development
Alex holds a degree in Kinesiology from ASU and brings over 15 years of physical therapy experience, including 8 years specializing in industrial medicine, injury prevention, and ergonomics. Certified as an Ergonomic Assessment Specialist (CEAS), Alex is deeply passionate about creating safer work environments, supporting injury recovery, and promoting healthy lifestyles at work and beyond. With extensive experience in building, implementing, and managing injury prevention programs for large corporations, Alex is dedicated to driving positive change in workplace health and safety.
John Cheeks – Ergonomist
Dr. John Cheeks is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a NIOSH Occupational Safety and Ergonomic Fellow, with specialized expertise in engineering solutions for ergonomics. He is also a Board-Certified Professional Ergonomist. With numerous publications in top-tier journals and a background in gerontology, John is a respected leader in the fields of ergonomics and physical therapy. His extensive experience focuses on developing innovative engineering solutions to improve workplace safety and health.
Melody Schell – Ergonomist
With a career spanning over 35 years, Melody Schell is a seasoned expert in ergonomics and human movement. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, Melody spent a decade in work injury rehabilitation and prevention. Her expertise is further validated by certifications such as OTR/L, CEES, and CEAS II.
Marie Bellegarde – Ergonomist
Marie is a Board-Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) with over 25 years of experience. Her passion for ergonomics drives her to develop solutions that prevent injuries and promote worker health. Marie has contributed to national ergonomics forums and has held positions at OSHA and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Kate DeMoss – Training and Ergonomics Specialist
With over 30 years of experience in ergonomics and movement science, Kate brings a unique perspective to her role. Her background in martial arts and deep understanding of body movement allow her to address musculoskeletal disorders effectively. Kate’s approach is rooted in her holistic understanding of ergonomics and wellness.
Denise Pontbriand – Ergonomist
Denise is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist with extensive experience in office, virtual, and industrial assessments. She specializes in program development and “train the trainer” programs tailored to clients’ specific ergonomic and biomechanical needs.
Susan Tyrlick – Ergonomist
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, Susan has worked for 9 years in injury prevention, reducing OSHA-reported injuries by 81% in her first year. Now a Certified Ergonomist Evaluator, Susan continues to make a positive impact on workplace safety.
Sean Hanrahan – Ergonomist
Sean has spent over 15 years working with “Industrial Athletes” as an athletic trainer, strength and conditioning specialist, and nutritionist. With experience working with NFL, MLB, NHL, and Olympic athletes, Sean specializes in manual therapy and corrective exercises to restore functional performance on the job and in life.
Matt MacKinnon – Ergonomics and Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist
Matt brings over 25 years of experience in ergonomic consulting and vocational rehabilitation, including seven years at UCSD, where he provided disability counseling, ergonomic interventions, and taught disability law. OSHA certified and a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society, Matt has worked with diverse clients like Boeing and the Department of Motor Vehicles across various industries. His expertise in risk assessments, job analyses, and ergonomic efficiency makes him a key member of the DORN Ergo Team.
